Petro Gazz, PVL organize coaches’ webinar for charity

During the ongoing coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, volleyball players have had multiple options for online workouts and sessions to choose from.

But what about the coaches?

Petro Gazz and the Premier Volleyball League will try to address that issue when they host a two-part coaches’ webinar on Octobers 3 and 10.

“First and foremost, since we all know that all volleyball teams right now are stuck in their houses and there are a lot of platforms for players already, we thought of focusing on coaches, especially in the provinces. We are hoping that this also becomes a fellowship with one another,” said Petro Gazz team manager Camille Cruz.

“Coaches kasi play a big role in the development of the players, most importantly sa character.”

The importance of having a good strength and conditioning program will be the topic for October 3’s session. That will feature renowned strength and conditioning coaches Chappy Callanta and Paolo Rivero, as well as the Angels’ physical therapist Rod Ann Oriel as speakers.

For October 10, Angels head coach Arnold Laniog, team consultant Jerry Yee, and lead assistant coach Rald Ricafort will share their experiences on how to build a proper volleyball program — from recruitment to execution.

The event will have a registration fee of P1,000. All proceeds will go to the Swell of Hope project of the P.U.S.O. Foundation.

The project’s mission is to reach out to certain provinces in the country that have been ravaged by the ongoing pandemic.

The proceeds of this session will be donated to the PUSO Foundation.

“‘Yung intention nila to make a difference and uplift the spirit of everyone, especially now, is why we chose them as our beneficiary,” said Cruz.
