Petchdam exhumes confidence ahead of third bout with ‘superstar’ Rodtang

Petchdam “The Baby Shark” Petchyindee Academy knows that he will enter the biggest match of his career at ONE: No Surrender this Friday, July 31, in Bangkok, Thailand.

In the night’s main event, he will look to end his trilogy with Rodtang “The Iron Man” Jitmuangnon on a positive and capture the ONE Flyweight Muay Thai World Title from his rival.

Ahead of his clash with “The Iron Man,” Petchdam praised the main he will share the Circle with.

“I think Rodtang is a superstar. I am so happy that I have a chance to fight with this superstar,” Petchdam told ONEFC.com.

“We fought each other two times before, so I know him well. He is good, and he doesn’t have any weak points, plus he has very strong punches. Since we are fighting with 4-ounce gloves on, I have to be careful.”

Admitting that he showed weaknesses in their second clash – where he lost by decision – Petchdam is training double-time to prepare himself better this time around.

With two different trainers focusing on different aspects of his game, “The Baby Shark” is leaving no holes in his game unfilled.

“My trainer ‘Boonberkfah’ trains me hard about protecting myself and footwork, so I can avoid Rodtang’s hits or get hit as little as possible,” Petchdam said. “My other trainer, Chatchai Sasakun, trains me specifically on my boxing.”

Rodtang has urged Petchdam to come forward and leave it all on the line when they clash, and while Petchdam wants nothing more than to put on a show for the fans, he refuses to give in to what his opponent wants.

“I am confident that I can win this fight, but not by walking forward and backward [like Rodtang would want],” he said.

“The point is, I will not play his game. That is for sure.”

ONE Championship returns to live action for the first time in nearly five months with ONE: No Surrender, a closed-door, audience-free card set for this Friday, 31 July, in Bangkok, Thailand. Catch the event live and for free by downloading the ONE Super App.
