PBA shocked by John Amores’ involvement in shooting incident

The Philippine Basketball Association is reeling from the news of a shooting incident involving Northport guard John Amores on Wednesday evening.

The incident took place around 6:10 PM in Barangay Maytalang Uno, Lumban, Laguna.

According to the initial police report, the confrontation began during a basketball game when the victim, 32-year-old seaman Lee Cacalda Y. Lumangaya, confronted Amores and challenged him to a fight.

The altercation escalated when both men dismounted their motorcycles, leading to Amores allegedly firing shots at Lumangaya with an unknown type of firearm.

Lumangaya sustained no injuries.

“This is a matter subject to investigation by the police, and we cannot comment on it. But we are saddened by such an unfortunate incident,” said PBA Commissioner Willie Marcial.

Amores and his 20-year-old brother surrendered to the Lumban police at 1:00 AM on Thursday, following the incident.

The authorities are currently processing their statements as the investigation continues.
