The PBA will return to the SM Mall of Asia Arena after two years.
Two 2022 Governors’ Cup playdates for the month of January will be held at the said venue, according to the schedule released by the league Thursday.
Taking center stage in the league’s MOA comeback are defending champs Ginebra and San Miguel as the rivals lock horns on January 16 at 6:30 p.m.
The heavyweight clash will serve as the main event of a doubleheader, right after the 4:00 p.m. encounter between TNT Tropang Giga and Terrafirma.
Opening the MOA games on January 15 are win-hungry clubs NorthPort and Blackwater at 4:00 p.m., followed by Magnolia’s duel with NLEX at 6:30 p.m.
The league already gained clearance from the Pasay City LGU earlier this month, but had to wait to play at the MOA Arena for a while.
That’s because rival league Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League got ahead in securing the venue for its Invitational Tournament last December 11-23.
This will be the PBA’s first games in MOA after two years, or since Ginebra beat Meralco for the Governors’ Cup title back on January 19, 2020.
