NorthPort might see the light at the end of the tunnel soon as far as its contract negotiations with Dave Ildefonso are concerned.
Discussions between the two camps have taken a major step after the fifth overall pick of the PBA Season 49 Draft “reached out” to the ball club.
“He reached out a few hours ago,” team governor Erick Arejola said during the league’s pre-season presser at the EDSA Shangri-La on Wednesday.
The Batang Pier expect the decision of Ildefonso and his family within the day – with the management, of course, crossing its fingers for the best.
Per head coach Bonnie Tan last week, the team has offered a two-year max deal to the second-generation cager, but he has yet to sign.
Ildefonso missed the draft proceedings as he was in Taiwan with Strong Group Athletics for the 43rd William Jones Cup, where they struck gold.
He wasn’t around as well during the Media Day, which was intriguing as the other first-round picks had been signed by their teams and were in attendance.
But given this latest development, there’s hope within NorthPort that he’ll be putting pen to paper soon and focus solely on the upcoming Season 49.
