Jericho Cruz finally gets his wish
The six-foot-one guard is now officially a part of the TNT Katropa, as the PBA Commissioner’s Office approved his shipment from the Rain or Shine Elasto Painters on Thursday afternoon, as per the league’s official website.
The Katropa dealt rookie Sidney Onwubere, seldom-used point guard Kris Rosales, and a 2018 first round draft pick to acquire Cruz, who reportedly had been requesting the Elasto Painters brass for a trade earlier this month.
Cruz started his career with Rain or Shine in 2014 when he was picked ninth overall. In his first three seasons, the 27-year-old from Adamson University posted norms of 10.4 points, 3.4 rebounds, and 2.2 assists.
His numbers this 2017-2018 season saw a significant drop.
The league’s Mr. Quality Minutes back in 2016 only played a total of three games this Philippine Cup and averaged just 2.0 points, 1.3 rebounds, and 1.7 assists.
Cruz is expected to make his TNT debut on February 28, when the Katropa fight for their lives in the All Filipino conference against sister team NLEX Road Warriors.
Onwubere and Rosales, meanwhile, can play for Rain or Shine on February 23 against the Alaska Aces.
