Ateneo Lady Eagles standout Pauline Lopez gave the Philippines another reason to celebrate, as she was able to advance to the semifinals of the -57kg Women’s division of the 2018 Asian Games Taekwondo tournament, Tuesday afternoon.
Lopez, who was eliminated early in the 2014 games in Incheon, blasted her two opponents in the first two rounds of competition held at the Jakarta Convention Center Plenary Hall in Indonesia.
The 20-year-old peppered Macau’s Feng Xiao in the round of 16, 8-0, before taking a lopsided 20-0 victory over Gyani Chunara of Nepal in the quarterfinals.
The win assures the Philippines of its fourth medal in the continental meet.
Lopez will face Luo Zongshi of China in the semifinals later in the day.
