AJ Parea, Ronn Romana shine, lead CamSur’s NBL weekend sweep

Camsur swept its home games over the weekend to strengthen its bid for an outright quarterfinal spot in the National Basketball League (NBL) Season 3 Black Arrow-President’s Cup at the Jesse M. Robredo Coliseum in Naga City.

The Express won over the Cavite Ballers, 75-69, last Sunday, then romped the Lifenet Corp.-Caloocan Executives, 100-83, last Saturday, to win their first two home games of the season.

The Express grabbed their fourth win and five outings and took solo second place in the team standings of Group A behind unbeaten Taguig (4-0). The top two teams in each of the two groups will advance outright to the quarterfinals with a twice-to-beat advantage.

AJ Perea had 19 points and six rebounds, and scored two of the final six points of the match to help Camsur break away from a 69-69 deadlock.

Ronn Romana had 22 points and a perfect 8-of-8 from two-point range to lead the Express to the victory over Caloocan.

Taguig also swept its matches over the weekend, defeating Cavite, 91-82, and Caloocan, 97-75, to hold first place in Group A.

Mike Sampurna had a triple-double, contributing 19 points, 13 rebounds, and 10 assists in the win over Cavite. Kevin Oliveria had 16 points for the Generals against Caloocan.

Cavite is in third place in Group A with a 2-2 slate, while Caloocan slipped to seventh and last place with a 1-4 record.
