ONIC snaps Blacklist’s 11-game streak, books slot in MPL PH upper bracket

Undefeated no more.

ONIC PH punched its ticket to the upper bracket by handing Blacklist International its first loss via a 2-0 sweep in Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Professional League-Philippines Season Eight, Sunday.

With the win, ONIC PH improved its standing to 8-4 with 25 points – still in the second spot. It also put an end to Blacklist International’s 11-game winning streak.

Kairi “Kairi.” Rayosdelsol’s Paquito, through timely arrows from Allen “Baloyskie” Baloy’s Selena, went berserk in Game One. They led ONIC PH’s lopsided win over the league-leaders to spoil Danerie “Wise” Del Rosario’s Karina debut.

The 16-year-old pride of Limay, Bataan finished with a clean 10-0-6 KDA line in the 19-11 win. ONIC PH took the lead early in the game then never looked back.

On the other hand, Wise – who last used an assassin other than Ling back in Season Six – struggled due to the early aggression of Kairi, Baloyskie, and Ian “Beemo” Sergio’s Akai. He ended up with four kills, four deaths, and four assists.

“Sobrang halaga bawat panalo, pero versus Blacklist… Siyempre top one sila sobrang lakas nila, so sobrang happy kami,” said ONIC PH head coach Denver “Yeb” Miranda.

In Game Two, Baloyskie (Selena) landed an Abyssal Arrow on Wise’s Barats. That gave Beemo (Jawhead) the opportunity to use his Ejector on the Blacklist International jungler.

That resulted in a four-man wipe which paved the way for the tight 15-15 Game Two win for ONIC.

Beemo was named the SMART 5G MVP with a kill, three deaths, and seven assists in the match which lasted for 16 minutes and 16 seconds.

Blacklist International tried something new once more in Game Two, fielding in a Barats pick for Wise to use. However, just like in Game One, it did not work out as he finished with two kills, two deaths, and four assists.

The Tier One-backed squad is still at the top spot with 28 points through a league-best 11-1 win-loss standing.

The two upper bracket spots will be filled in by both Blacklist International and ONIC PH.

Blacklist International will next face Omega Esports on Saturday at 8:00 PM. Meanwhile, ONIC PH looks to bounce back against RSG PH earlier in the day at 6:00 PM.
