NorthPort is the only team without any assignment in the 2021 PBA Philippine Cup resumption’s first week in Bacolor, Pampanga.
The Batang Pier – who carry a 1-3 win-loss record – were noticeably out of the league’s schedule of games from September 1-5.
And in a brief statement issued by the league Tuesday, the team won’t play yet in accordance with the league’s health and safety protocols.
“The NorthPort Batang Pier basketball team shall not have games this week (Sept. 1-5) in accordance with the league’s health and safety protocols,” it said.
Previously, the league said that it will release its schedule on a weekly basis as it will depend on the COVID-19 test results of all individuals.
The league is plunging back into action after almost a month of inactivity due to the pandemic situation. However, the competition now takes place in a semi-bubble set-up in Pampanga. And part of its efforts to ensure the safety of everyone within is stricter testing protocols.
Mondays are reserved for RT-PCR tests, while antigen tests will be conducted every morning of game days.
The conference’s elimination round will feature five playdates in a week.
