Back in March 7, 2020, Faith Nisperos played her second-ever game for Ateneo de Manila University.
And it was a baptism of fire for the two-time UAAP Girls’ Volleyball MVP as it came against De La Salle University.
Fast forward to 1,142 days later, Nisperos faced the Lady Spikers for the sixth time in her career.
However, just like in her first five tries, she and the Blue Eagles could not solve the Lady Spikers, bowing in straight sets, 25-22, 25-19, 25-18.
Still, the Davaoena spiker held her head up high, proud of the stand given by Ateneo against the league-leaders.
“I’m really proud of the team and our performance today.
“I know na binigay namin lahat yung best namin — hindi lang ako o si Vanie (Gandler) but most of our teammates and, as well as, yung mga galing bench namin nag-perform din. Quality minutes and I’m proud of them,” said Nisperos, who tallied 12 points on nine attacks and three aces.
However, there is a possibility that this will be the last time she faces La Salle.
As everyone knows, Ateneo has been eliminated in the playoff race.
Moreover, Nisperos is about to get her degree in Business Management later this year.
The 23-year-old now has an option of either taking a masters degree and play another year for the Blue Eagles or turn pro and get signed by a Premier Volleyball League team.
But as of now, Nisperos is enjoying and relishing every moment before making her decision.
“Anything is possible at this point and time will tell kung ano yung magiging situation in the future,” the second Best Outside Hitter of Season 84 shared.
“Well, that is something that I also have to think about this season,” she said when asked what are the deciding factors she will look into before making a decision.
If Sunday was her last Ateneo-La Salle game, Nisperos admitted that this was by far the best rivalry game she played in.
Despite the loss, the game will hold a special place in her heart.
“This game kasi ito yung game na yung teammates ko nag-step up. This is is my top Ateneo-La Salle moment. I’ll always look back at this moment na, ‘Yes! Lumaban ang team ko’,” she said.
“I could probably say na hindi kami basta-basta nagpatalo.”
Come Saturday, Nisperos will go all out against National University. And it’s going to either be her swansong for the blue and white or the start of her senior year.
