The Execration-ONIC PH battle for third match-up will definitely be remembered as one of the biggest blunders in the history of Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Professional League-Philippines.
And ONIC PH, just like what happened two seasons ago, was once again in the middle of it all.
After dropping the first two games of the series, Hate and S4gitnu stepped up as he spearheaded Execration’s epic comeback to wield the upset axe on ONIC PH, 3-2, and claim the bronze medal in the MPL-PH Season Six, Sunday evening.
The last time the league has seen a team lose this big of an advantage was in Season Four when ONIC PH botched a 2-0 advantage to lose the Season Four Grand Finals at the hands of eventual two-time champions Sunsparks.
It was a standard game for ONIC in Games One and Two against Execration, fielding in a composition led by Wise’s Yi Sun Shin and Ling, respectively, to seal a two-games-to-none advantage in the battle for bronze.
Execration was kept alive after an outstanding performance from Hate’s Ling (10-1-2) and S4gitnu’s Uranus (4-0-7) in Game Three, which gave them steam for the next two matches.
It was total domination for Execration in Game Four and Five with the two once again leading the charge.
Hate posted 10 kills and five assists with no deaths using a comfort pick in Harith while S4gitnu – who played for Geek Fam in Season Five before coming back to Execration – wreaked havoc once more with his Uranus and finished with four kills, a death, and nine assists.
Interestingly, the whole Execration squad made the choke gesture at the end of Game Five – a jab at ONIC PH offlaner Dlar who made the same gesture when they won Game Two and took a 2-0 advantage.
The BREN Esports-Smart Omega best-of-seven Grand Finals will be held later in the day after the charity show match between the teams of popular streamers Ako siDogie and Choox TV which is slated at 6:30 p.m.
