Weeks after College of Saint Benilde filed a letter of inquiry to the NCAA, the Grand Old League’s Policy Board has deemed that the Edgar Charcos, Kim Aurin, Tonton Peralta, and Kyt Jimenez played in a school-based team during the 2017 Metro Basketball Tournament last year.
The league announced this development in a statement dated October 26.
“The Policy Board resolves, as it is hereby resolved, that the University of Perpetual Help System DALTA has fielded a school-based team in joining a non-NCAA league.”
The four Altas players played for the Las Piñas Home Defenders last year.
However, what Perpetual Help failed to do was get clearance from the league to play in this tourney.
“The Policy Board further resolves that UPHSD has deviated from the best practice of NCAA member schools in informing the league prior to joining a non-NCAA league.”
With this, the league has deemed to reprimand and sternly warn Perpetual to stop doing this practice in the future.
Perpetual will still play the San Beda Red Lions in the Final Four.
