Muntinlupa returned to the win column after taking down Bulacan DF, 103-85, to cap the 2021 Chooks-to-Go NBL Chairman’s Cup Sunday games at the Bren Z. Guiao Convention Center in San Fernando, Pampanga.
Already ahead by seven entering the second half, the Water Warriors opened the flood gates in the third period, going for 35 big points while holding the Republicans to just 22, 78-58.
Muntinlupa then continued to pound Bulacan in the fourth, stretching its lead to as high as 25 on a layup by Hilario Sabado, 93-68.
The victory put Muntinlupa back in the winning column after yesterday’s 83-91 loss against La Union, hiking its win-loss standing to 2-1.
Biboy Enguio was a monster off the bench, collecting 29 points including six triples, 12 rebounds, four assists, and two blocks.
Jed Mendoza, now a starter, dropped 26 points, six rebounds, five assists, and two steals. Jude Codiñera was ultra-efficient, making 15 points in 17 minutes.
After averaging 105 points in their first three games, the Republicans were held to a team-low 85 points
Dominick Fajardo did it all with 26 points, five rebounds, five assists, and three steals as Bulacan absorbed its first defeat in four games.
Joseph Celso and Earnest Reyes were the other Republicans in double figures with 11 and 10 points, respectively, with the former grabbing 14 rebounds.
