NBL: Apolonio, La Union vent ire on Bulacan to create logjam for second


After a 59-point embarrassment yesterday vs Pampanga, La Union bounced back with a 110-92 crushing of Bulacan DF, Sunday in the 2021 Chooks-to-Go NBL Chairman’s Cup at the Bren Z. Guiao Convention Center in San Fernando, Pampanga.

The PAOwer used a 32-point third quarter to build momentum, all while holding the Republicans to just 21 to establish a 12 point lead entering the payoff period, 80-68.

La Union then just traded baskets with Bulacan in the fourth, much to its advantage for a 6-2 win-loss record, tied with Muntinlupa for second.

Jayson Apolonio had an all-around game for the PAOwer with 24 points, eight rebounds, four assists, two steals, and a block.

Ervin Silverie, who was silenced last night, came back to his normal ways with 20 points, nine assists, and six rebounds off the bench.

Billy Boado went 7-of-9 from the field to finish with 18 points, five rebounds, four steals, three blocks, and two assists.

Gay Lord Pambid registered a double-double in just 20 minutes with 15 points and 13 assists.

Dominick Fajardo led the Republicans with 18 points, nine assists, and seven rebounds, but he shot just 2-of-11 from the charity stripe.

Jerick Sumampong also got 18 off the bench on an 8-of-12 clip as Bulacan sank to fourth place behind a 6-3 standing.
