Nash Racela expects more from underperforming Mike Glover


TNT Katropa head coach Nash Racela did not sugarcoat anything regarding import Mike Glover’s performance in their 2018 PBA Governors’ Cup opener versus the NLEX Road Warriors, Friday evening in Antipolo City.

Glover, who had a good run with the GlobalPort Batang Pier two seasons ago, seemingly underperformed against a Yeng Guiao-less Road Warriors, as he only produced 11 points on 4-of-12 shooting and 15 rebounds.

His counterpart Olu Ashaolu, meanwhile, flat-out dominated the Katropa by posting monster numbers of 33 points and 23 rebounds in 42 minutes – this, despite having a slight patellar tendon rupture in his right knee.

“Of course we expect more, always expect more,” said the outspoken Racela.

“Eleven and fifteen are not the numbers that you [expect from an import].”

After this, the 6-foot-5 Glover will have yet another acid test on Sunday, August 19, as the Texters will battle the Meralco Bolts – who have Allen Durham for the third straight season – still at the Ynares Center in Antipolo.

The Orangemen are coming off a 109-106 victory over Columbian Dyip, and Durham had been Meralco’s leader as he flirted with a triple-double of 26 points, 20 rebounds, and nine assists against only two turnovers.

So how the 30-year-old Glover will fare with the reigning, two-time Best Import remains to be seen.

“Oo nga, Durham pa yun.”
