Myla Pablo back to being a consistent force


There is no question that Motolite Power Builders skipper Myla Pablo is getting back to her lethal form.

Pablo had previously dealt with a nagging back injury in the 2019 PVL Reinforced Conference. Now, she’s beginning to regain her consistency in both scoring and playing time.

“‘Yung back injury ko, hindi naman sumasakit. So, thank God,” the two-time PVL Most Valuable Player expressed.

The former National University standout figured in each set of Motolite’s first three matches in the Open Conference.

During the three-game stretch, the 5-foot-10 outside hitter took the bulk of the scoring for Motolite. She has also been the lone double-digit scorer for her team in every outing so far.

However, the 25-year-old believes that she, along with former Pocari Sweat setter Iris Tolenada, can still bring her offensive prowess to greater heights.

“Ngayon talaga, medyo nag-adjust ako kay Iris kasi matagal kong hindi nakasama si Iris,” Pablo disclosed. “Pero siyempre, hindi ka puwedeng magreklamo.

“Kumbaga mag-adjust ka kung anong ibibigay sa’yo na set.”

But beyond her scoring exploits, and as one of the mature voices of the youth-laden squad, Pablo is glad to see her teammates thrive in their own respective ways.

“Thankful kami sa teammates ko na tulong-tulong kami as a team,” she bared.

“Actually, happy kami kasi yun yung hinahanap namin sa loob ng court.”

In their game against Bali Pure on Sunday, the native of Tarlac showed the way with 12 points to lead a balanced offensive thrust for Motolite.

Isa Molde also dealt damage from the service line, netting five of her team’s 11 aces to finish with nine markers.

Meanwhile, Ai Gannaban and Carlos flaunted their double-edged weapons. The former had seven points spiked by two blocks, while the latter supplied six markers and 10 excellent digs.

Tolenada did her part in orchestrating the offense to the tune of 17 excellent sets on top of four points. Ayel Estrañero covered the floor with 11 excellent digs and nine excellent receptions.

“Nagtutulong-tulong kami as a team,” Pablo praised. “Gumana sila Tots Carlos, Isa Molde, at halos lahat talaga.”
