The Phoenix Army once again ended their season in typical TNC Pro Team fashion, capping off their MPL Philippines Season 13 campaign with a 2-0 sweep of Smart Omega on Saturday at the Shooting Gallery Studios.
TNC concluded the season with eight points on a 2-12 win-loss card.
A day after expressing frustrations with the team’s penultimate match, TNC head coach Ben “Benthings” Maglaque sang praises for his team this time around.
“Mas naging Phoenix Army kami today. Nung mga nakaraan kasi parang Phoenix Barbie. Napakita nila kanina kung pa’no talaga mag-maximize ng lead,” Benthings said of their performance against.
“Ganyan na yung magiging standard ng laro niyo. Ayan yung panghahawakan niyo. Ganyan kayo pag wala kayong iniisip na iba, walang pumipigil sa inyo na gawin yung dapat na alam niyo na din naman gawin,” he added.
Game 1 went deep into the late game, where TNC punished Omega’s backline ambush on Jetson “Goyo” Ignacio (Vexana) in the 25th minute to force a 2-1 exchange.
This gave TNC the space to mount a base turret siege a minute later, securing the opener.
Rasec “Nomed” Sugarno then went on a rampage in Game 2, finishing with a 7-0-2 KDA to lead TNC’s 12-2 spread in the kill score, completing the sweep.
Omega, eliminated from playoff contention due to Blacklist International’s victory over ECHo earlier in the day, still has to face MINANA Evos on Sunday, May 5.
