MPL PH: Team Liquid PH sweeps Smart Omega to secure third win in four matches

Team Liquid PH notched their third win in their last four outings after sweeping Smart Omega, 2-0, in Week 3 of the MPL Philippines Season 16 on Saturday at the Green Sun Hotel in Makati City.

The defending champions improved to 3-2, climbing to second place behind league-leading ONIC Philippines (3-1).

For TLPH head coach Rodel “Ar Sy” Cruz, preparation was the key against Omega, especially after the latter delivered an impressive opening game that was anybody’s contest up until the final team fight.

“Nag-prepare lang kami. Tapos, di naman sobra, pero mas nakuha lang namin yung timpla,” he said.

Jaypee “Jaypee” Dela Cruz (Kalea) came up clutch in Game 1, executing a perfectly timed Tsunami Slam on Dean “Raizen” Sumagui (Lancelot) during the 24th-minute lord fight.

The play sparked a decisive 4-for-2 exchange that allowed TLPH to secure the lord and break through Omega’s defenses in a grueling match that stretched past the 25-minute mark.

In Game 2, Kiel “Oheb” Soriano (Harith) took charge, scoring a triple kill in a 16th-minute ambush that led to a 5-for-1 wipeout and sealed the sweep for Team Liquid PH.

TLPH will aim for a fourth win when they face Team Falcons PH on Friday, September 13.
