ECHO successfully avenged their loss in the first round against MINANA Evos with a lopsided 2-0 sweep in the penultimate week of the MPL Philippines Season 13 on Saturday at the Shooting Gallery Studios.
ECHO (9-3) moves into a tie for the top spot with AP.Bren (9-2) with 28 points, heading into their last two matches.
It was a contrasting sight compared to their previous match-up, and head coach Archie “Tictac” Reyes attributed this to their extensive preparation and learnings from their previous losses.
“Ang goal talaga namin is makakuha ng upper bracket. Yung preparation talagang ginrind namin. Lagi kami nag-uusap kung ano ang mga kailangan iadjust kapag natatalo kami,” he said when asked what sparked ECHO’s massive turnaround performance against MINANA.
In Game 1, the Season 11 champions posted a commanding 16-3 lead on the kill tally during a 15-minute victory.
Alston “Sanji” Pabico’s Lou Yi earned the game’s MVP citation with a flawless 7-0-6 KDA.
Game 2 was another one-sided affair in favor of ECHO as Sanji (Faramis) once again secured the MVP award with a 3-2-11 KDA.
He led ECHO to a 10-minute victory with a near shutout 15-2 kill score.
ECHO still has to face Blacklist International and AP.Bren in the final week of the regular season. The results will determine the three slots for automatic qualification for the upper bracket.
