MPL PH: Onic stops slump with sweep of Blacklist

Onic Philippines ended a three-game losing streak with a 2-0 sweep of Blacklist International in Week 2 of the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Professional League (MPL) Philippines Season 12 at the Shooting Gallery Studios in Makati City.

With the win, Onic climbed to 5th on the season standings with five points with a 1-3 win-loss card.

“Nung Game 1 sobrang passive yung laro. Ganun po siguro talaga si Blacklist kaya ang hirap din makipagsabayan pag passive. Baka kayo pa mapunish. Nung Game 2, sinubukan namin aggrehan sila para testingin kung lalaban sila. Lumalaban namin sila pero kami yung nananalo,” explained Onic jungler Dean “Raizen” Sumagui on their meticulous series against Blacklist that saw very few early game skirmishes.

Dean “Raizen” Sumagui (Fredrinn) displayed his dominance in the opener, securing all the turtle buffs and the first two lords of the match. Onic once again controlled the early game, reminiscent of their previous season matches.

However, it was John “Perkz” Sumawan (Khufra) who delivered the decisive plays. His two-man Tyrant’s Revenge set-up during a base turret defense at the 20th minute sparked a 4-0 retaliation. He followed this up with a Tyrant’s Rage set-up on Salik “Hadji” Imam (Gord) a minute later, completing the wipeout and giving Onic the opening win at 1-0.

Onic maintained the momentum in Game 2 and controlled the match until Blacklist managed to fend off a 13th-minute base turret siege when Kiel “Oheb” Soriano (Bruno) scored a double kill during a 4-1 punish.

However, Onic easily bounced back from the mishap, securing the next luminous lord, and completing the sweep by the 17th minute.
