Onic Philippines took matters into their own hands as they swept Smart Omega, 2-0, to clinch the final playoff berth to the playoffs of the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Professional League (MPL) Philippines Season 12 at the Shooting Gallery Studios, Makati City on Sunday.
Onic now sits fourth in the standings, but may slide to the fifth spot depending on the results of the Blacklist International and AP.Bren match later today.
Game 1 boiled down to a 21st minute lord dance where Ron Matthew “Matt” Papag (Baxia) secured the lord objective that Onic responded with a 2-0 pick off.
With numbers on their side, Onic forced a base turret siege in the ensuing sequence as Kenneth “Nets” Barro (Irithel) scored a double kill to successfully take the opener, 1-0.
Game 2 was a close game from the early goings until Dean “Raizen” Sumagui (Martis) stole away the 13th minute lord objective, that helped the Sonics zoom to a 4k net worth lead.
Onic then took advantage of Omega’s botched split push ploy in the 18th minute, punishing their rivals with a clean 4-0 wipe that enabled the Sonics to easily gun down a one way base turret push in the midlane and take the series.
Omega concludes their regular season campaign in sixth with 19 points on a 7-7 record.
Onic’s win eliminated Minana Evos from the playoff race due to an inferior tiebreaker. Both Omega and Minana finished the season with 19 points.
