MPL PH: ONIC dominates TNC, closes in on playoff

Onic Philippines halted a three-game losing streak with a scintillating 2-0 sweep of TNC Pro Team, bringing them just one point away from securing a spot in the playoffs in the final week of the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Professional League (MPL) Philippines Season 12 at the Shooting Gallery Studios in Makati City on Friday.

The Sonics (6-6) now occupy the fifth position with 18 points, narrowly surpassing Smart Omega (6-6) with 17 points. They will face Minana Evos (5-8) on October 14 in a match that will determine the final rankings in the regular season. Minana is currently in seventh place with 16 points.

In Game 1, Onic managed to withstand King Cyric “K1NGKONG” Perez’s (Fanny) early-game dominance, as he had a 3-0-2 KDA record, before Czedrick “Yoshinu” Romero (Chou) executed a precise Way of the Dragon setup to shut him down.

Frince “Super Frince” Ramirez (Faramis) then took control in the late game, securing a double kill during a 13th-minute base turret siege, propelling Onic to a game-winning 5-1 victory, making it 1-0.

In Game 2, Kenneth “Nets” Barro (Irithel) shone as he obtained three kills during a 4-1 exchange in the 9th minute to secure the first Lord objective of the match and gain control of the map.

From that point on, Onic never looked back and coasted to a 14-minute victory. TNC is already out of playoff contention, having suffered their 10th consecutive loss and eleventh overall.
