Karl “KarlTzy” Nepomuceno notched his third career Savage, helping ECHO reclaim the top spot in MPL Philippines Season Nine via a 2-0 sweep of Omega Esports on Sunday night.
The win put ECHO at 7-2 with 21 points to overtake TNC in the standings.
Tristan “Yawi” Cabrera’s crucial Way of the Dragons on Chou helped ECHO squeak past Omega Esports, 19-14, in the opening game of the series.
Gunning for the sixth Lord of the contest already entering the 27th minute, Karl “KarlTzy” Nepomuceno’s Aulus nabbed the objective without contest to prepare for a possible siege against Omega Esports.
The SMART-backed squad then took out Benedict “Bennyqt” Gonzales’ Yu Zhong to try and soften the blow. However, the four-man ECHO contingent still proved to be too much for Omega.
Following a successful flank from Frediemar “3MarTzy” Serafico (Esmeralda) that forced Omega Esports to pop out important skills, Yawi went for the Way of the Dragon-Flicker combo to catch Duane “Kelra” Pillas’ Kimmy.
Kelra, along with Patrick “E2MAX” Caidic’s Kagura, went down at the hands of KarlTzy and Jankurt “KurtTzy” Matira’s Pharsa, respectively. Omega was on the verge of taking out 3MarTzy, KurtTzy, and Yawi, but KarlTzy was able to hit the base enough to finish off the game.
Yawi finished with a game-high 14 assists along with a kill and three deaths in 28 minutes and 12 seconds of action.
ECHO then just went ham in Game Two, shutting down Kelra (Harith) and Renz “Renzio” Cadua (Thamuz) early all while putting up a 6K gold advantage in the first eight minutes of the match.
The team secured the Luminous Lord in the 14:02-mark after a botched siege attempt.
KarlTzy ended the game with the second Savage of the season after getting denied of the feat last February 26 against TNC. He ended with 13 kills, a death, and nine assists in the 24-6 Game Two stomp in 14 minutes and 59 seconds.
Omega Esports, who suffered its second straight defeat, fell to a 3-6 slate with eight points still at the seventh spot.
ECHO will go up against TNC next on Saturday at 4:00 PM while Omega Esports will fight RSG PH on the same day at 6:00 PM.
