MPL PH: Flawless victory for ONIC PH in triumph over Smart Omega

ONIC Philippines secured their first back-to-back win this season by dominating Smart Omega, 2-0, in Week 2 of the MPL Philippines Season 13 at the Shooting Gallery Studios, Makati City on Friday.

It was ONIC’s second straight win via sweep after a 2-0 victory over RSG Philippines in Week 1. The Hedgehogs catapulted to third spot on the standings with six points on a 2-1 win-loss card.

The series saw Omega field two separate rosters but it hardly mattered for ONIC as they were prepared no matter who they were facing tonight.

“Papunta pa lang kami dito, inaasahan na namin na possible na kalaban namin sila H2wo so prepared kami for both. I believe that’s the responsible thing to do naman eh. Kumbaga nung andun na sila sa stage nung Game 2, it’s fine. Continue kami sa plano namin,” explained ONIC head coach Tony “Ynot” Senedrin.

ONIC delivered a perfect opener, totally silencing Smart Omega and bagging the win without conceding any death on the way to taking an 18-minute win via a clean 6-0 kill score.

Jem “Jem” Lanojan (X.Borg) led the way with a 3-0-2 KDA.

Omega then opted send in their second roster composed of John Paul “H2wo” Salonga, CJ “Ribo” Ribo Jr, Dexter “Exort” Martrinez, Nowee “Ryota” Macasa, and Jomari “Jown” Pingol.

But ONIC shrugged off the surprises as it was another runaway win in Game 2.

King “K1NGKONG” Perez (Baxia) finished with a 4-0-6 KDA to lead ONIC’s 11-1 conquest of Omega on the kill score to complete the sweep.

ONIC will shoot for win number three against MINANA EVOS on Saturday, March 23.
