MPL PH: Bren’s cardiac Game One comeback demoralizes ONIC in stunner

Bren Esports’ cardiac comeback in Game One powered its 2-0 sweep of ONIC PH to keep its playoff bid alive in MPL Philippines Season Nine, Saturday night.

The MPL PH Season Six titlist upgraded its slate to 3-7 and tied Omega Esports (3-6) at the seventh spot with eight points each.

After a long tug of war, ONIC PH took the Luminous Lord entering the 26th minute to try and finish Bren Esports’ gallant stand-in Game One.

With no turrets left on their side, Bren Esport still managed to defend their base against the Luminous Lord. However, Super Minions surrounded the team’s base, even slicing its health points down to a sliver.

ONIC PH then tried to finish what the Super Minions started.

Gerald “Dlarskie” Trinchera (Esmeralda) went first, but Bren Esports quickly took him down to stay alive. Kairi “Kairi” Rayosdelsol’s Baxia was gunned down right before he reached the base while Allen “Baloyskie” Baloy’s Grock — who was able to hit the base a couple of times — was a normal attack away from the win.

Lastly, Jaylord “Hatred” Gonzales’ Selena suffered the same fate as Kairi while Marky “Markyyyyy” Capacio’s Moskov ended up like Baloyskie.

Kenneth “Saxa” Fedellin’s Karina paced the heart-stopping 24-20 Game One win with 10 kills and 10 assists against one death in 28, minutes and 10 seconds.

In Game Two, Bren Esports went off — taking a dominant 9-1 win in just 13 minutes and 46 seconds.

Methodical was Bren Esports’ approach in the second match with Saxa’s Baxia completely out farming Kairi’s Ling. The team led by as much as 10K in the gold department.

A siege after the second Lord entering the 14th minute ended the game.

ONIC PH dropped to 6-4 — still at the fourth spot — with 15 points.

Bren Esports will cap off the week against Nexplay EVOS on Sunday at 8:00 PM while ONIC PH will return next week, Friday at 8:00 PM against Omega Esports.
