MPL PH: AP.Bren spoils Yawi’s return, sends Echo to a third straight loss

AP.Bren dug deep to score a come-from-behind 2-1 reverse sweep of defending champion Echo in the final week of the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Professional League (MPL) Philippines Season 12 at the Shooting Gallery Studios, Makati City on Saturday.

The reigning IESF world champions need just one more win in their final match to secure an upper bracket berth for the second straight season. They currently sit second with 24 points, three points ahead of third-running RSG Philippines.

After conceding the opener, Rowgien “Owgwen” Unigo (Khufra) unveiled an accurate Tyrant’s Rage set-up on Tristan “Yawi” Cabrera (Minotaur) during the 24th-minute Lord dance in Game 2 to easily secure the evolved Lord.

AP.Bren wasted no time in the ensuing base turret siege to score the equalizer. Angelo “Pheww” Arcangel (Novaria) took the Game MVP honors with an almost perfect 2-1-6 KDA.

In Game 3, it was Marco “Super Marco” Requitiano (Clint) who delivered the decisive play, scoring a double kill during the 14th-minute Lord dance to spearhead AP.Bren’s series-clinching 4-0 wipe.

It was Yawi’s first appearance this season after Jaypee “JayPee” Cruz took the reins for Echo from Week 1 to 5.

Despite the loss, Echo is already assured of the top seed entering the playoffs as their closest pursuer only has a maximum of 27 points. They currently sit atop the standings with 30 points.
