MPL: Blacklist makes statement win vs ECHO, secures top seed

With the top seed on the line, Blacklist International bested ECHO in dominant fashion, 2-0, to emerge as the top team at the end of the MPL Philippines Season 10 regular season, Monday at the ICITE Auditorium.

The Tier One-backed squad upped its tally to 29 points off a 9-5 slate while ECHO, who settled for the second seed, had 27 points via a 10-4 win-loss standing. Both teams will start the playoffs at the upper bracket semifinals.

Blacklist International only needed 12 minutes to dispatch ECHO in the opener, taking a dominant 8-1 victory.

It was all Blacklist in the first 11 minutes of the match up until Karl “KarlTzy” Nepomuceno (Fanny) snagged a kill on Salic “Hadji” Imam’s Pharsa during ECHO’s base defense which prompted the reigning world champion to retreat.

ECHO tried to initiate but Johnmar “OhMyV33NUS” Villaluna (Estes) managed to heal his teammates enough to turn the tables to their side anew.

OhMyV33NUS had a game-high eight assists in the win while Kiel “OHEB” Soriano had five kills and two assists without a death on Wanwan.

In Game Two, Blacklist International – once again backed by OhMyV33NUS’ Estes – scored crucial kills on Alston “Sanji” Pabico (Valentina) and Tristan “Yawi” Cabrera (Grock) during the 16th minute which spelled doom for ECHO.

The MPL Philippines playoffs will start on October 8.
