MPBL slaps Bacolod with ₱500K fine for game forfeiture

Bacolod has been fined ₱500,000 for forfeiting their game against Pangasinan on June 21, 2025, during the Manny Pacquiao Presents 1xBet–MPBL 2025 Season at the Pola Gymnasium in Oriental Mindoro.

MPBL Commissioner Kenneth Duremdes imposed the penalty following a thorough review of the circumstances surrounding Bacolod’s refusal to play the second half of the match, where they trailed 30–50 at halftime.

In addition to the fine, Bacolod must also settle their tournament fee before their next scheduled game against the Imus Braderhood on June 26 at 6:00 PM at the FilOil EcoOil Centre in San Juan.

Failure to comply will result in the forfeiture of their upcoming game against Imus as well.

Meanwhile, in the opener of another tripleheader on Monday at the Cuneta Astrodome in Pasay, Caloocan overwhelmed Manila, 110–92.

Jeff Manday led the charge for Caloocan with 26 points, 9 assists, and 7 rebounds, lifting his team to a 12–5 record in the round-robin elimination phase of the 30-team tournament.

He was backed by Jeramer Cabanag, who added 19 points and 4 rebounds, while Paul Sanga chipped in 14 points and 2 rebounds.

Theo Flores contributed 10 points, 3 rebounds, and 3 assists, and Antonio Bonsubre anchored the paint with 6 points, 13 rebounds, 3 steals, and 2 assists.

Despite a brilliant performance from Achie Inigo, who recorded a triple-double of 25 points, 12 assists, and 11 rebounds along with 4 steals, Manila suffered its 15th consecutive loss after opening the season with a win.

Batang Quiapo also received solid outings from Decoy Lopez with 14 points, 7 rebounds, and 6 assists, and Stephen Torralba, who finished with 11 points and 2 rebounds.
