Former Deputy Speaker and world-ranked polo player Mikee Romero led a historic Philippine Air Force delegation to the United States for a groundbreaking Public Affairs Workshop hosted by the United States Air Force Reserve Command at Buckley Space Force Base.
The five-day workshop, which began on February 16, highlighted the growing interoperability and strengthened alliance between the Armed Forces of the Philippines and the United States military.
Romero, Wing Commander of the 2nd Air Force Wing Reserve, led the delegation along with Col. Ma Christina O. Basco, chief of the Air Force Public Affairs Office.
The Philippine delegation, which also included Lt. Col. Paulino Antonio T. Lomoljo, Lt. Col. Floreto I. Solano, Lt. Col. Joseph Bitangcur, and Sgt. Kenneth A. Madali, became the first official Philippine delegation to participate in a professional workshop held within a United States Space Force installation, marking a milestone in bilateral defense cooperation.
The workshop provided an opportunity to exchange best practices in public affairs, strategic communication, media engagement, and crisis communication, while strengthening institutional capabilities, deepening mutual understanding, and enhancing cooperation between allied reserve forces.
The engagement was made possible through the leadership of PAF Commanding General Lt. Gen. Arthur M. Cordura, in coordination with U.S. counterparts.
Romero’s leadership highlights his unique ability to bridge the worlds of sports and military service.
