Japan’s captain Mika Shibata was hailed the Most Valuable Player of the just concluded 2022 PNVF AVC Cup for Women, Monday evening at the Philsports Arena in Pasig City.
The star setter led Hinoroti Nippon to their first-ever AVC Cup for Women unscathed in six straight matches and denied China a fourth consecutive title.
Fellow Hinotori Nippon standouts Hiroyo Yamanaka and Rena Mizusugi were likewise awarded as one of the Best Middle Blockers (MB) and the Best Libero, respectively.
China got the other Best MB award for Hu Mingyuan, one of the Best Outside Hitters (OH) plum for scorer Wu Mengjie, and the Best Opposite Hitter for Zhou Yetong.
Thailand captain Pornpun Geudpard was adjudged Best Setter, while star spiker Chachu-on Moksri ended as one of the Best OHs.
