As the clock struck 12 midnight on Wednesday, Maverick Ahanmisi and Converge failed to come to terms.
With this, the 6-foot-2 combo guard is now an unrestricted free agent, free to sign with any ball club.
This is by virtue of Ahanmisi being part of the 2015 PBA Rookie Draft.
Starting with draftees after 2014, players can become unrestricted free agents after seven years in the league.
Tough will be Ahanmisi’s departure for the FiberXers, who were coming off three quarterfinals appearances last season.
During the 2022-23 season, Ahanmisi played in 38 games, averaging 13.72 points, 5.94 rebounds, 3.78 assists, and 1.22 steals per game.
His best outing came in the 2023 Governors’ Cup when he put up import-like numbers of 19.92 points, 6.58 rebounds, 3.08 assists, and 1.17 steals per game.
According to multiple sources closely monitoring the situation, Converge offered Ahanmisi a two-year, “max” deal with perks.
