Matt Aquino, shorthanded Shinshu fall to Shimane in B.League

Fielding just eight players, Shinshu could not overcome Shimane, bowing 67-75 in the 2021-22 B.League season, Sunday at Matsue City Gymnasium.

The injury woes for the Brave Warriors continued to pile up prior to this game as Wayne Marshall and Yuta Osaki were deactivated due to injuries, leaving them with just eight healthy bodies.

With a short rotation, Shinshu, who was behind by just one, 32-33, at the half, could only put up 11 points in the third canto while giving up 23.

Seiya Ando and Nick Kay combined for 13 points in the frame with Ando also dishing out three dimes.

Shinshu put up a spirited rally in the final frame but the lead proved to be too much.

Shinshu suffered their seventh straight loss to fall to 9-12 while the Susanoo Magic went up to 15-6.

Ando had 22 points built on four treys with seven assists for Shimane while Kay added 19 points and eight rebounds. Reid Travis also got 15 points and nine rebounds.

Jaemin Yang carried the offensive load for the Brave Warriors, tallying 26 points with 10 rebounds. Anthony McHenry got 14 points and six rebounds.

Despite the short rotation, Shinshu only played Matthew Aquino for eight minutes, finishing with two points and a rebound.

Up next for Aquino and Shinshu are Javi Gomez de Liano and Ibaraki on Christmas weekend at White Ring.
