F2 Logistics rookie playmaker Mars Alba deflected the credit to her veteran teammates after her impressive professional debut in the 2023 Premier Volleyball League Invitational Conference.
Alba started the game for the Cargo Movers and finished with 14 excellent sets, along with five points. She led her team to a 25-22, 25-20, 25-23 victory over the new team Farm Fresh at the Filoil EcoOil Centre in San Juan City on Tuesday.
The young playmaker thanked her teammates for showing her the ropes and guiding her in her transition from amateur to professional.
“Nakaka-overwhelm po. Masaya kasi given na first game and first win din pagpasok ng PVL. Masaya rin ako kasi nandiyan yung mga ate to guide us na mga rookies,” said Alba during the post-match press conference.
“Siyempre po masaya and nakakataas siya ng confidence sa paglalaro given na mga veterans na yung mga naglalaro, naga-guide kami nang maayos,” the best setter of UAAP Season 85 added.
F2 Logistics head coach Regine Diego said that she really trusts Alba, which is why she decided to include her in the starting lineup.
Diego also expressed her happiness with the connection that Alba has built with veteran setter Kim Fajardo. She is confident that the UAAP Season 85 Finals MVP will continue to thrive under Fajardo’s guidance.
“Kilala ko naman na siya for the longest time and I really trust her. And I know din naman na Kim [Fajardo] is going to be there to support her kahit naman sa training, Kim has been supporting her,” said Diego.
“Maganda rin na nakikita niya na Kim can do the same and I know that they can learn from each other.”
