Manabat, Paat vent ire on Khonkaen as Nakhon seals VTL third seed

Nakhon Ratchasima QminC will enter the 2021-22 Volleyball Thailand League semis as the third seed after clobbering Khonkaen Star, 25-23, 25-17, 25-18, Sunday at the Nimibutr Stadium in Bangkok.

The two-headed beast that is Mylene Paat and Dindin Santiago-Manabat took turns in hammering Khonkaen.

Manabat was inserted back into the starting lineup while Paat atoned for her subpar performance yesterday against Supreme Chonburi.

Patcharaporn Sittisad and Chitaporn Kamlangmak were the main producers in the local side of Nakhon Ratchasima.

Sittisad’s off-the-block kill gave the close 25-23 first set to Nakhon Ratchasima.

Up by just four points in the second frame, Nakhon Ratchasima uncorked a 9-2 blast, capped by back-to-back conversions of Paat, to establish a 20-9 lead en route to a 25-17 win.

Ahead by four late in the third canto, a 5-2 swing topped by Kamlangmak’s quick kill finished off the Star, 25-18.

Nakhon Ratchasima will face either Supreme Chonburi or Diamond Food. It depends on the result of their game later, in the semifinal next weekend.

The Filipinas’ squad is 0-6 against the two teams they might face.

Khonkaen went 0-3 in this round and will face the top seed in the semis.
