It’s not just JD Cagulangan celebrating good news this week.
A day after his good pal Cagulangan signed with KBL club Suwon KT, Malick Diouf followed suit, joining Pacific Caesar Surabaya in the Indonesian Basketball League.
The team officially announced the signing on Wednesday evening.
The 6-foot-11 Senegalese big man has been in the Philippines since graduating from the University of the Philippines after UAAP Season 86.
During his stint with the Fighting Maroons, Diouf earned recognition as the UAAP Season 84 Finals MVP and Season 85 MVP.
At 25 years old, Diouf also made waves playing for the Zamboanga Valientes in the Asian Tournament.
Now, he takes the next step in his career, signing full-time with Surabaya, one of Indonesia’s most storied basketball clubs.
Surabaya struggled last season, finishing last in the standings with a 3-23 record.
With Diouf on board, the team hopes to rebuild and make a strong push in the upcoming IBL season, which will run from January to August 2025.
