Lito “Naruto” Dante (13-7-4) made the most out of his third regional title fight and gave his all to win the vacant WBC International 105-pound belt in a special “Boxing Kontra Droga” event at the Manila Hotel, Saturday evening.
The standout out of Hardstone Boxing scored a 116-113, 116-112, 116-112 unanimous decision victory over Elorde Boxing prospect Jay Loto (13-1-1) in the night’s three-fight card.
Dante, 27, banked on his experience for much of the fight against his younger opponent. He smothered Loto in most of their exchanges, lunging forward to prevent him from firing his counter-shots. It proved to be effective, as it prevented Loto from landing significant punches.
Loto tried to muster up some offense against Dante in the middle rounds. However, “Naruto” kept the fight in his favor with some body shots that almost took a toll on Loto, as he was visibly winded in their exchanges. In the end, Dante landed more damage, and it was enough for the judges to score the bout all in his favor.
In other fights, Jason Egera (22-17-1) defeated Glenn Suminguit (19-3) by decision, while WBC International light flyweight titleholder Jonathan Taconing (24-3-1) stopped Ellias Nggenggo.
