The champion of PBA 3×3’s inaugural conference also gets a shot at national glory.
Besides discussing the schedule of Gilas Men for the rest of the year, the Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas also tackled with the Philippine Basketball Association the upcoming 3×3 national team tournaments.
League commissioner Willie Marcial, who headed the meeting alongside SBP deputy executive director Butch Antonio, bared that first conference champion Limitless will be the ones tasked to represent the country in the 31st Southeast Asian Games’ 3×3 tournament set in two months in Hanoi, Vietnam.
“Malamang Limitless ang ipadala sa atin sa SEA Games,” the amiable executive told Tiebreaker Times. “Pero baka kasama din yung second placed team or baka yung champion team lang.”
The Appmasters crew of Brandon Rosser, Marvin Hayes, Reymar Caduyac, Jorey Napoles, and Jaypee Belencion will most likely be the ones submitted to the SBP as the deadline for the submission of entries by names is on March 12.
Limitless defeated Platinum Karaoke in the Grand Finals, 18-16.
With the PBA 3×3 season in its third conference come May, Marcial said that they would take a SEA Games break from May 12-23.
During the first-ever SEA Games 3×3 tournament, the quartet of CJ Perez, Mo Tautuaa, Chris Newsome, and Jason Perkins made an eight-game sweep, capping their dominant campaign with a 21-9 win over Indonesia in the gold medal match.
Yet to be discussed though is the Gilas 3×3 team that will compete in the 2022 FIBA 3×3 Asia Cup which takes place from July 6-10 in Singapore.
