A young girl’s significant decision becomes her ticket to the biggest stage of her life.
Seventeen-year-old Levi Ruivivar, who switched allegiance to the Philippines, saved her best for last in the 2024 FIG World Cup series, securing her place in the Paris Summer Olympics later this year.
With a silver medal in the Doha leg of the World Cup series in the Uneven Bars with a score of 13.633, just behind Algerian Kaylia Neymour’s 15.366, the former United States gymnast finished among the top two in points for Olympic Qualification through the event.
Ruivivar joins fellow Fil-Am gymnast Alleah Finnegan and multiple-time Worlds medalist Carlos Yulo as the country’s representatives in artistic gymnastics.
Emma Malabuyo, another artistic gymnast, awaits her fate as she currently holds the second spot in the floor exercise rankings.
The trio of gymnasts will join pole vaulter EJ Obiena; boxers Eumir Marcial, Nesthy Petecio, and Aira Villegas; and weightlifters John Ceniza, Elreen Ando, and Vanessa Sarno in Team Philippines’ Olympic Centenary delegation.
