Kianna Dy is still far from satisfied despite F2 Logistics’ strong start in the 2023 Premier Volleyball League All-Filipino Conference.
The Cargo Movers, unlike their first two games in the Reinforced Conference, picked up two quick wins to open the 2023 season, escaping PLDT in five sets before dominating Akari to force an early three-way tie at the top spot.
Dy finished with a game-high 17 points – all on attacks – to power F2 Logistics’ 25-22, 25-23, 25-18 triumph over the Chargers at the Philsports Arena on Saturday night.
The 2021 PNVF Champions League MVP said that the team must learn to be aggressive early on and take control of the match right from the start instead of starting things slow which gives their opponents a chance to establish their footing – both of which happened against Akari and PLDT.
“We started slow so I think that’s something that we have to work on, kailangan sa start pa lang laban agad hindi yung nangangapa pa. We’re gonna work on it sa training,” said Dy, who also put up 17 points in their first assignment.
“Of course, it’s good that we started on a good note but there are a lot of improvements pa na kailangan so we just take every game one step at a time and hopefully we reach the end,” she added.
F2 Logistics head coach Regine Diego said that the Cargo Movers already showed signs of improvements compared to their debut match but insisted that she wants to see more from them moving forward.
Diego also lauded Akari – who has yet to score a set after dropping their first two matches via sweep – for putting up a great fight.
“I cannot say na they did not improve, they improved naman in some areas but syempre hindi ako pwedeng makuntento sa ganun lang. I want more from them, there are so many things that we have to improve,” the rookie head coach said.
“Galing din ni Akari, respect sa kalaban. Also, we have to improve talaga yung kumuha agad ng mas mabilis. We can’t wait for them to make more points para matalo kami, we have to be more aggressive pa but we’ll take the win.”
