KBL: Abarrientos, Ulsan Hyundai eke out win vs Belangel, Daegu KOGAS


In a Christmas day affair at Ulsan Gymnasium, it was RJ Abarrientos and Ulsan Hyundai Mobis who stood victorious over SJ Belangel and Daegu KOGAS, taking a 76-70 win.

Abarrientos got 12 points, making a living in the foul stripe as he shot 7-of-9 from there. The Far Eastern University product also got three rebounds and a steal, helping the Phoebus go up to 15-9 in the standings for solo second.

Abarrientos’ good pal Belangel though only logged 12 minutes for three points, two assists, and a rebound.

American import Gaige Prim added 14 points while Lee Woosuk had 13 points and 12 rebounds.

Lee Daesung led the way for the Pegasus with 27 points.

Daegu KOGAS fell to 10-15 for seventh place with Wonju DB.

Meanwhile, over at Suwon KT Arena, Ethan Alvano and the Promy fell to the home team, 64-77.

Alvano’s 14 points and four assists were not enough to stave off the Sonicboom.

Three players scored 17 points for KT with Lester Prosper also grabbing five rebounds. Jarrod Jones got eight boards while Ha Yoongi grabbed 14 boards.

KT, who is awaiting the arrival of Dave Ildefonso, went up to 9-15.

Kim Jongkyu led DB with 20 markers.

On boxing day, Justin Gutang scored nine points on 4-of-4 shooting but Changwon LG was routed by Jeonju KCC, 82-96.

The Sakers fell to 15-10 for third place while KCC rose to 12-13.

Ricardo Ratliffe led the Egis with 23 points and 18 rebounds.

Lee Jaedu paced LG with 22 points.
