KBL: Abando shows glimpse of what to expect in KGC win over Army

Rhenz Abando made sure to have a statement game before the 2022-23 KBL season begins.

The NCAA Season 97 MVP dropped his best line as a pro, helping Anyang KGC take a 90-73 win over Sangmu, Wednesday at Tongyeong Gymnasium.

Abando had an uber-efficient game, producing 19 points on 5-of-8 shooting with three rebounds, one assist, one steal, and a block in just 17 minutes of action.

However, KGC could not advance to the knockout semis of the Cup tournament as it fell to Changwon LG last Monday, 89-69. The Sakers also defeated Sangmu last Saturday, 106-79.

Omari Spellman also tallied 22 points, six rebounds, and five assists while Moon Seonggon and Daryl Monroe added 11 and 10 markers respectively. Monroe also grabbed seven boards.

Park Junghyun led Army with 20 points and six rebounds while Heo Hoon got 15.

Justin Gutang and the Sakers will face RJ Abarrientos and Hyundai Mobis in the semis.
