Changwon LG completed its sweep of the 2022 KBL Cup’s Group C after taking an 89-69 win over Anyang KGC, Monday at Tongyeong Gymnasium.
Filipino imports Rhenz Abando of KGC and Justin Gutang of the Sakers though were not able to show out in the contest.
Gutang only played two minutes in the contest, going scoreless with three assists and a rebound.
Meanwhile, Abando played 15 minutes, finishing with two points, one rebound, one assist, one steal, and a block.
It was a dominant win for the Sakers, who turned to its defense to break away from KGC in the third canto.
Leading 48-39 at the half, LG limited KGC to a horrid 3-of-18 shooting in the third canto to gain a 67-53 lead entering the final frame.
Assem Marei put the finishing touches on the game.
Marei got 19 points and 18 rebounds for LG while Lee Jaedo and Seo Minsoo added 13 and 11 points, respectively. Dante Cunningham also got 10 points.
Meanwhile, Omari Spellman paced KGC with 12 points and 10 rebounds. Oh Sekeun and Byeon Junhyeong got 10 markers each as well.
KGC and Sangmu will fight for dear life on October 5.
