Rhenz Abando shone brightly in Game Two of the 2023 Korean Basketball League Finals, carrying Anyang KGC to a dominant 81-67 win over Seoul SK to even the series, Thursday at Anyang Indoor Gymnasium.
Abando had a horrid Game One outing last Tuesday that saw KGC fall to SK, 69-77. The UST and Letran product only tallied four points, two rebounds, and an assist in 20 minutes of action.
This time around, Abando made sure to repay the trust given to him by Kim Shangshik.
The NCAA Season 98 MVP produced a stellar line of 18 points on 61-percent shooting from the field — including 2-of-4 from deep, four rebounds, three steals, and two assists in 27 minutes of action.
With Abando rolling, the rest of Anyang followed suit.
Oh Sekeun got 21 points and nine boards while both Omari Spellman and Byun Junhyung chipped in 13 points apiece. Spellman, who will play for Lebanon in the World Cup, also grabbed 13 rebounds.
Bu Kyungchoi paced the Knights with 17 points and 12 rebounds while Choi Sungwon added 12 markers.
Jameel Warney was limited to just nine points on 4-of-17 shooting from the field with eight rebounds.
The series now shifts to Jamsil Student Gymnasium for Games 3 and 4. The next game is on Saturday.
