KarlTzy says taking out FlapTzy felt good, but it’s nothing personal

Karl “KarlTzy” Nepomuceno finally made his debut for the star-studded ECHO in the MPL Philippines Season Nine on Saturday night.

It was indeed the perfect start to the 17-year-old wunderkind’s new chapter. He went up against the team that became his home for the past three seasons.

Save for a few friendly banters a day prior to the match, KarlTzy – who remained good friends with his former teammates – insisted that it was all business for him. Nothing more, nothing less.

Still, the M2 MVP admitted that taking out his former Bren teammates in-game – especially David “FlapTzy” Canon – was a pretty good feeling.

“Focus lang talaga sa game,” said KarlTzy after ECHO’s 2-0 win over Bren Esports on Saturday night.

“Pero ‘pag nababawasan ko sila ang sarap sa pakiramdam.”

KarlTzy unleashed his signature Lancelot – which earned the Bren Esports M2 skin a year ago – in the 21-13 Game One win and finished with five kills, three deaths, and nine assists.

The former national team standout then went for an immaculate 4-0-7 KDA line on Yi Sun-Shin in Game Two to close out the series with a 12-5 stomp.

After finding himself at the tail end of SGD Omega’s rotation, KarlTzy transferred to Bren Esports in time for Season Five with the hopes of kick-starting his career.

During his time with the Bernard Chong-owned franchise, KarlTzy was able to lead the team to the Season Six title and the M2 world title.

Everything turned sour after M2 as Bren Esports bowed out of the playoffs in Season Seven before entirely missing the postseason in Season Eight. The pride of Antipolo was so close to becoming a full-time student after that disastrous season, but the chance to have a new start with ECHO made him stay in the MPL.
