As good as advertised, ECHO dominated Bren Esports, 2-0, to kick-start its MPL Philippines Season Nine title bid on Saturday night.
Bren Esports was looking good early in Game One with Kenneth “Saxa” Fedelin’s Paquito leading the charge.
That, until Jankurt “KurtTzy” Matira’s Vale ran roughshod on the rookie-laden Bren Esports. KurtTzy’s steady presence kept ECHO in the match and eventually, won them the game.
Entering the 17-minute-mark, Bren Esports was able to catch the 8-0-4 KurtTzy near the Lord pit up top to hand him his first death. ECHO then counter-engaged, completing a five-man wipe past the 17:00-minute mark to finish the game.
KurtTzy ended Game One with eight kills and four assists against one death while Benedict “Bennyqt” Gonzales’ Phoveus, who manned the frontline for ECHO, had four kills and nine assists against two deaths in the 21-13 win in 17 minutes and four seconds.
After a shaky start, ECHO showed its much-improved play in Game Two with Tristan “Yawi” Cabrera (Chou) and Karl “KarlTzy” Nepomuceno (Yi Sun-Shin) pacing the team.
Definitely, there was no shortage of confidence from the side of ECHO — who pummeled down Bren Esports right from the get-go. The team, despite a couple of botched plays, kept its lead and ended the game in style.
KarlTzy finished with a clean 4-0-7 line in the 12-5 win in 14 minutes and 25 seconds while KurTzy had five kills and four assists against one death on Yve.
Next up for ECHO is Omega Esports tomorrow, Sunday at 6:00 PM while Bren Esports will return next week, Friday against RSG PH at 6:00 PM.
