Justin Brownlee has officially confirmed his next destination.
According to the resident Ginebra import, he will suit up for a team in the Indonesian Basketball League and is set to leave on Sunday.
“Yeah, I will be playing abroad. I should be leaving on Sunday,” said Brownlee when asked to confirm if he will play in the IBL.
Brownlee, though, respectfully declined to share details about his upcoming stint.
Tim Cone, who coaches Brownlee both in Gilas and Ginebra, also confirmed the development and wished his long-time player good luck.
Cone also said that he is very happy with the 35-year-old naturalized Filipino’s move as this will keep him in shape for Gilas’ future tournaments.
“We’re happy for him. Gives him some extra income and helps him stay sharp and in shape. He’ll be back for Ginebra in the next import conference, or in June for Gilas,” said Cone.
Brownlee is expected to be back with Gilas Pilipinas come June to prepare for the upcoming Olympic Qualifying Tournament in Riga, Latvia, which is slated to run from July 2 to 7.
He will then make his return to Ginebra in the next season.
The six-time PBA champion watched the Premier Volleyball League All-Filipino Conference double-header on Thursday and supported his long-time idol Sisi Rondina of the Choco Mucho Flying Titans.
