He may still be new with Tanduay Alab Pilipinas, but Justin Brownlee’s outings in their last two games were nothing but stellar. With this, the ASEAN Basketball League named him as the World Import of the Week.
The two-time PBA champion earned the honor after averaging 23.0 points, 8.0 rebounds, 7.0 assists, 2.5 steals, and 2.0 blocks in Tanduay Alab’s victories over the Westports Malaysia Dragons and Singapore Slingers for the week of January 1-7.
Brownlee battled jetlag last January 3 as he suited up immediately for the Filipino club on the night of his arrival, producing 29 points, eight assists, seven rebounds, three steals, and two blocks to power Alab to a 90-79 win over the Westsports Malaysia Dragons.
The native of Tifton, Georgia followed it up with another all-around performance last January 7 against the Singapore Slingers, finishing with 17 markers, eight dimes, seven boards, two blocks and steals in Tanduay Alab’s 89-80 win in overtime.
Brownlee bested teammate Renaldo Balkman for the weekly citation.
For his part, Balkman averaged 21.5 points, 9.5 rebounds, 4.0 steals, and 2.0 blocks for the week.
Alab is now riding a three-game winning streak.
Brownlee and Balkman are expected to come up big once more, as the current fourth-placed team takes on the Slingers for the third time this season on Tuesday, January 10, at the Filoil Flying V Centre in San Juan City.
