June Mar Fajardo sets PBA Finals MVP record, receives first-ever Ramon Fernandez award

June Mar Fajardo continues to play in a league of his own.

The 6-foot-10 Cebuano was named the 2025–26 PBA Philippine Cup Finals Most Valuable Player after leading San Miguel to its 31st overall title in Asia’s premier professional basketball league.

The honor was made even sweeter as Fajardo became the first player to receive the newly rechristened Finals MVP trophy, now named after living legend Ramon Fernandez — one of Fajardo’s mentors.

With this accolade, Fajardo has surpassed Danny Seigle, LA Tenorio, and James Yap for the most Finals MVP trophies won in league history.

Over the six-game series against TNT, Fajardo dominated with averages of 19.7 points, 18.3 rebounds, 1.7 assists, and 1.0 blocks per game.

This latest achievement adds to his illustrious resume, which already includes nine Season MVP awards, 10 first mythical team selections, eight all-defensive team honors, and a Defensive Player of the Year award.
