June Mar Fajardo is set to make history as the 6-foot-10 San Miguel big man is leading the field in the Best Player of the Conference race in the 2017-18 PBA Philippine Cup.
The sixth-year pro is currently tallying 44.1 statistical points, averaging 22.8 points, 13.2 rebounds, and 2.1 blocks per contest.
A far second is Fajardo’s teammate Arwind Santos. The former league Most Valuable Player is averaging a double-double with 16.3 points and 10.5 rebounds to go along with 2.9 assists, 1.4 steals, and 2.0 blocks for 37.6 SPs.
Stanley Pringle is at third (35.6 SPs) while JP Erram (35.3) and Japeth Aguilar (34.2) complete the top five.
Rounding out the top 10 are Marcio Lassiter (32.4), Scottie Thompson (32.3), Sean Anthony (32.2), Paul Lee (31.5), and Matthew Wright (31.4).
For the league neophytes, collegiate rivals Kiefer Ravena and Jeron Teng are one and two in the Rookie of the Year race.
Ravena, who plays for the NLEX Road Warriors, leads the pack wiht 27.0 SPs — 23rd overall. Teng, who is a forward for the surging Alaska Aces, tallied 25.2 SPs to close out the elimination round.
The awarding for the Best Player of the Conference will happen during Game Four of the PBA Philippine Cup Finals.
